The belief-based domain assigns meaning. It answers why something matters rather than how it works, and it draws on faith, culture, upbringing, and personal conviction.
At healthy levels it provides direction, resilience under uncertainty, and a sense of continuity between who you were and who you are becoming.
At maximum critical distance disappears and convictions stop being tested against evidence. Blocked entirely, events feel arbitrary and motivation becomes hard to sustain.
